I'm constantly asked who my biggest beauty inspiration is and while we are so often inspired by our friends and family, I've always found my inspiration on social media.
I’ve always spent endless hours watching TV but never actually identified with anyone that was being shown on my screen. Now, it surprises me completely to see how many people I can really relate to on social media. Whether it is modest fashion, building confidence on social media, or just getting inspiration from what I come across online, I am always feeling super inspired by so many people and many creative accounts.
Here are some of the ladies who give me inspiration every day online...
Halima Aden
Somali model, Halima Aden, has definitely played a huge role in paving the way for us Muslim women. She has been a complete inspiration to us by showing us that our hijab is definitely not a barrier, but rather allows us to be who we are. Also, I am always super inspired by the pops of colours in her outfits whenever I scroll through her feed. Her personality is written all over her face and I think that’s what makes her an absolute icon.
Jayde Pierce
I remember when I first started out with makeup, I literally knew absolutely nothing! I spent hours watching Jayde’s tutorials on YouTube and found myself purchasing the products just so I could apply my makeup following her steps. After a few tries, I’ve pretty much mastered how to work on my face and it was definitely down to Jayde’s videos. Not only do I get complete inspiration from her makeup style, but I am always finding home decor inspirations on her feed, too. I was super inspired by Jayde’s positive outlook on life and she has completely changed my perception of social media and the digital world through her series of more personal chatty videos on YouTube. Yes, girl!
Dina Tokio
Layering has always been one of my favourite things to do but I just never really knew how to pull it off without looking like I couldn’t decide on an outfit. Fashion blogger, Dina Tokio, has always been my go-to for inspiration whenever I have to dress to impress for any occasion. She perfectly styles bold colours and statement pieces in ways that are completely wearable for everyday but still glam and edgy enough to wear for more special occasions. Her advice series on YouTube has definitely given me us all the motivation and inspiration we need to set my goals and achieve them.
