Hove lawn's famous beach huts will once again get a Christmassy relook this festive period, as they open a life-size advent calendar

From the 1 December till Christmas Eve, 24 Beach huts on Hove seafront will open their doors to the public redecorated to depict an unusual twist to the traditional Christmas theme.

Like the usual advent calendars, from 5.30 to 6.30 each day a different hut will be revealed until Christmas Eve which will have a surprising finale.

Started by Church group BEYOND leader Martin Poole, it is now in its fifth year and now exclusively part of Hove's traditional Christmas celebrations.

The news comes after the 2011 census figures revealed that there was a 27% rise in Brighton and Hove of residents who described themselves as having no religion, making it the second least religious place in the UK.

Poole, 50, from Hove hopes that this event will change people's perceptions of the conventional church.
